From Life was an e xperimental exhibition presented at the Royal Academy of Arts (RA), which explored what it means to make art from life, and how the practice is evolving with technology. To accompany the exhibition, HTC VIVE Arts partnered with the RA to create several virtual reality pieces by artists Yinka Shonibare, Jonathan Yeo and Humphrey Ocean, and architect Farshid Moussavi.
“It is an exciting opportunity for leading artists to explore the creative potential of virtual reality technology, and for our audiences to experience this technology first-hand,” said Tim Marlow, Artistic Director of the Royal Academy of Arts. Each VR piece was presented alongside paintings, works on paper, historic casts and contemporary works, exploring the tradition—and future—of drawing from life.
