In 2017, HTC VIVE Arts partnered with the Nobel Museum to present Understanding Matter, an exhibition that used virtual reality to tell stories about the ground-breaking achievements of Nobel Prize laureates in Physics. The exhibition opened in Dubai, before traveling to the Nobel Museum in Stockholm.
Understanding Matter takes viewers on a journey through space and time, highlighting discoveries and inventions that have shaped human history. "We are extremely happy to collaborate with HTC in developing a VR experience where the Nobel Prize in physics will be visualized" Commented Dr. Olov Amelin, Director of the Nobel Museum. “Combining these stories with the best possible interface in order to spur curiosity in a wider audience – that’s where VR and the technology developed by HTC plays an important role. This is the moment when edutainment starts to become an unnecessary label – learning about our universe in this form is simply fun.”
Founded in 1801, the Nobel Prize recognizes outstanding achievements in the fields of Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Literature and Peace, and is regarded as the highest honor in each field. The Nobel Museum was created 100 years after the first prize was awarded in 1901.
